Be Still
There comes a point where the noise stops feeling like noise and starts feeling like invitation.
Not the kind you’re meant to accept—
but the kind you’re meant to ignore. To reject.
Over and over again.
You’ll be tempted to wander.
Not because you’re weak.
But because you’re human.
And sometimes, the silence makes the wrong doors sound like the right ones.
You’ll start to wonder if maybe your calling is taking too long.
If maybe the assignment has expired.
If maybe you’re missing out while staying faithful.
But here’s the truth:
When you’ve been called, you can’t walk just anywhere.
⸻
“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.”
—Isaiah 30:21
⸻
You may try to explore.
You might give something else your second thought.
You might even take a few steps toward another life, another pursuit, another someone.
But then it rises up—quiet, but undeniable:
“This isn’t where we go. Stay here. I’m not done.”
It doesn’t come with fireworks.
It’s not a divine billboard flashing in the sky.
It’s quieter than that.
But deeper.
Heavier.
And you know it’s not coming from you.
⸻
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
—Proverbs 3:5–6
⸻
Eventually, you realize:
It’s not that you can’t pursue another path.
It’s that the person you are becoming—the one being refined in the patience, in the fire, in the silence—
that person wasn’t made for anything else.
Even your restraint becomes a form of faith.
Your stillness isn’t passivity.
It’s obedience.
And obedience is rarely loud.
It’s rarely noticed.
But it is sacred.
⸻
“But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
—James 1:4
⸻
People might think you haven’t moved on.
That you’re stuck.
But they don’t see the sacred discipline of staying in alignment with what you know is right.
They don’t hear the yes beneath every no.
The soul that stays rooted while everything around it shifts.
You’re not lost.
You’re stationed.
You’re not behind.
You’re assigned.
You’re not chasing comfort.
You’re following conviction.
⸻
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain.”
—1 Corinthians 15:58
⸻
So if you’re in the middle of a season where the world says “go” but God keeps whispering “stay”—
Even when it hurts.
Even when it feels lonely.
Even when it feels like madness—
Let this be your reminder:
You’re not wrong for being faithful.
You’re not foolish for believing.
You’re not stuck.
You’re held.
And the One who called you?
He isn’t finished yet.
Stay.
